When to Plant Start indoors 12-16 weeks before last frost (January/February). Very slow germination.
Planting Depth Surface sow โ€” seeds need light to germinate. Do not cover.
Spacing 6-9 inches. Use support netting.
Soil Well-drained, slightly alkaline. pH 6.5-7.0
Sunlight Full sun (6+ hours). Afternoon shade in hot climates.
